General Grell is the final boss of the Wellspring Temple in Act I of Torchlight II. He is the leader of the Sturmbeorn who entered the temple to plunder it around the time of the Alchemist's arrival.

Located in the Wellspring Temple's third level – the Water Guardian Palace – he must be defeated in order to reach the Guardian of Water and Commander Vale.

  • Attacks with large amounts of knockback
  • Ranged attack firing a cannonball from his arm
  • Causes rocks to fall to the ground by shooting a cannonball at the ceiling

Strategy[]

Grell is a slow boss that lumbers towards the player to use high damage attacks. Luckily for the player, his attacks are telegraphed slowly, which will give them plenty of time to react accordingly. If Grell points his cannon arm towards the player, he is about to fire a cannonball - players have about a half-second to sidestep this attack. If Grell points his cannon at the ceiling, rocks will fall from the ceiling surrounding Grell - players have about a second to exit this radius.

More troublesome than Grell himself are the enemies that spawn along the sides of the arena. Periodically, multiple Sturmbeorns or warbeasts will spawn to overwhelm the player. If Possessed Ones spawn, players will need to dodge their spirit blasts and if warbeasts spawn, players will need to avoid being overwhelmed by these quick melee creatures.
