Shields (T2)

Shields are a defensive item in Torchlight II, similar to armor, but equipped in the left hand like a Weapon. While equipped, the shield provides additional points to the character's overall armor value, and conveys any special properties that it might have.

Shields also convey a chance to block attacks, whereby the attack is completely negated, dealing no damage at all to the player character. A new feature in Torchlight II however is the shield's ability to provide 50% knockback resistance in addition to this Block chance.

Enemies also carry shields, which provide the chance to block and resist knockback as described above. However, the player can shatter enemy shields by wielding Maces and Greathammers, or by using certain Skills like Ember Hammer and Shadow Burst.
