When you activate this skill, which has a cooldown of 8 seconds, the Engineer generates a glowing blue shield around himself and any allies within a few meters. This shield lasts for 30 seconds, absorbing most damage. Effect damage, such as from being burned or poisoned is not absorbed, but generic fire or poison damage is.
The Absorption levels given below are only accurate for the level requried to unlock it. Absorption improves with player level and will increase in number close to your current level each time. If kept at max ranks, these are the absorption levels at the required levels.

Combined with some method of quickly generating charge, such as an allied Berserker or Dynamo Field, Forcefield becomes an incredible skill. With sufficient mana regeneration, charge production and good management, Forcefield can be kept up continuously, making all allies invulnerable to all but the most catastrophic attacks. Do note, however, that being burned or poisoned does damage that bypasses the Forcefield. However, this damage is usually not enough to worry about.
